Peacehaven
This project focused on the prehistoric archaeological heritage of Centenary Park (aka the Big Parks Project), a new 30-acre community park in Peacehaven, East Sussex. Centenary Park was the site of one of the largest archaeological investigations to have taken place in the southeast. Archaeology South-East uncovered an extensive and regionally significant multi-period prehistoric landscape with evidence of settlement and farming stretching from the Mesolithic to Iron Age periods.
Working with Lewes District Council and HKD Design Studio, I co-developed a permanent heritage exhibition in the Gateway Café, Peacehaven in 2015. Here a former parks workshop was developed into a café and interpretation centre. The café was shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit awards in 2015 and won a RIBA South East award in 2016. See images here.
